Abstract

Abstract. The ecological and agrarian crisis in the Batak lands demonstrates that land-related issues cannot be adequately addressed through technical, legal, or ethical approaches alone, but require a theological reflection rooted in indigenous experience. This study aims to reread the story of Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kings 21) through the perspective of the Batak Toba people in order to construct a contextual and prophetic theology of land. This study employs an intercultural, reader-oriented approach that uses Batak Toba cosmology and agrarian experience as an interpretive horizon for reading 1 Kings 21. The result indicates that land is understood as a genealogical–spiritual heritage, a space of identity and justice, and a locus theologicus in which divine revelation is manifested and faith is embodied. This rereading reveals land dispossession as the erosion of identity and dignity, and contributes to ecotheology and public theology by fostering a creative dialogue between Christian faith and indigenous wisdom.

Abstrak. Krisis ekologis dan agraria di Tanah Batak menunjukkan bahwa persoalan tanah tidak dapat dipahami semata melalui pendekatan teknis, hukum, atau etis, melainkan menuntut refleksi teologis yang berakar pada pengalaman masyarakat adat. Kajian ini bertujuan membaca ulang kisah kebun anggur Nabot (1Raj. 21) melalui perspektif Batak Toba untuk mengonstruksi teologi tanah yang kontekstual dan profetis. Metode yang digunakan adalah pembacaan interkultural berorientasi pembaca yang menempatkan kosmologi dan pengalaman agraria Batak Toba sebagai horizon interpretatif untuk membaca 1 Raja-raja 21. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa tanah dipahami sebagai warisan genealogis-spiritual, ruang identitas dan keadilan, serta locus theologicus tempat penyataan dan iman dihadirkan. Pembacaan ini menegaskan bahwa perampasan tanah merupakan perampasan identitas dan martabat, serta memperkaya ekoteologi dan teologi publik melalui dialog kreatif antara iman Kristen dan kearifan lokal masyarakat adat.
