Abstract

Abstract. The fact that there is diversity in sexual orientation is often unacceptable, especially by heterosexual groups. This then triggered acts of violence against people with homosexual orientation. Researcher believe that violence will not occur if each people promotes hospitality. The aim of this research is to find a model of hospitality that is relevant in the context of sexual orientation diversity. This research was conducted through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with three gay individuals from three different religions. Next, the results of the FGD were put into dialogue with various theological understandings about hospitality. In the end, this research showed that stigmatization, which is the root of acts of violence, can be suppressed if there is an openness to accept the others, in this case people with different sexual orientations.

Abstrak. Kenyataan adanya keberagaman orientasi seksual seringkali tidak dapat diterima terutama oleh kelompok heteroseksual. Hal itu kemudian memicu terjadinya tindak kekerasan terhadap orang-orang dengan orientasi homoseksual. Peneliti meyakini bahwa kekerasan tersebut tidak akan terjadi apabila masing-masing pihak mengembangkan sikap keramahtamahan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan model keramahtamahan yang relevan dalam konteks keragaman orientasi seksual. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD) kepada tiga orang individu gay dari tiga agama yang berbeda. Selanjutnya, hasil FGD didialogkan dengan berbagai pemahaman teologis tentang keramahtamahan. Pada akhirnya penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa stigmatisasi, yang menjadi akar tindak kekerasan, dapat ditekan apabila ada sikap keterbukaan untuk menerima sang liyan, dalam hal ini orang-orang dengan orientasi seksual yang berbeda.
