Abstract

The teacher's role in the intellectual life of the nation has been pioneered by the fathers of education since the Dutch colonial era. They work selflessly, even more courage to sacrifice their lives and property. They work not based on the well-being that will be accepted, but because of vocation. Sacrifice by this call then, teachers are better known as the unsung hero. The same spirit echoed it continues to this day, with the hope that Indonesia free from illiteracy and into the developing countries towards developed country in all aspects. In reality, not all teachers have the same spirit as the pioneers of education in Indonesia. Many are of the view that the teacher is one of the professions, which related professions and professionalism in the field comparable to the welfare of his or her family can be found. Indeed, this view is not wrong, but more than that the teacher is not just a profession but a vocation. The vocation was not from the department of education, yet a heart's calling, soul’s, even a divine call. The vocation is what makes a teacher can survive in their duties. The difficulties are there, do not make it back and leave their responsibilities, but will try to find a solution. The teachers are like this is expected to create a strong young generation in the face of these changing times.
